Irlam Primary Graduation – Magic Mirror

Magic Mirror & DJ Service

Last month we got to provide our DJ service along with our sexy Magic Mirror for our local Primary Schools Y6 Prom Night. The kids absolutely loved the mirror. Most images cannot be used for obvious reasons due to their ages but here are some of the parents who got involved.

The Magic Mirror is an awesome addition to any party or wedding as the guests love to interact with it. We use the very best Mirror on the market and customise the frame to match the event. Check out howe this frame includes the school name and the year.

The mirror is a touch screen and is interactive. It has banter with you whilst taking your photo. The frames can all be customised so if you have an idea please get in touch to ask. If it requires a lot of design there may be a small fee to cover the time it takes to get it designed and personalised just for your event.

Below is some of the feedback I received…

Gayle Mitchelmore – I can not recommend this company or Gary enough!
Fantastic service from start to finish, and to say the mirror was a hit is an understatement. I’ve seen a million photo booths over the years, but this, well it’s something else !!!! Truly outstanding Gary

Claire – Thanks gary! Was a brilliant night…photo booth was ace! X

Natalie – These are fab. Brilliant idea thanks so much. Memories are made x

To get more information go to my Magic Mirror page where you can see prices and options as well as my many other services. The mirror gets booked up quickly and is very popular particularly in the wedding season April-September so if you want it I recommend leaving a deposit to secure your date asap.

Worsley Marriott Wedding DJ – Giant Love Letters

Worsley Marriott Wedding DJ – Giant Love Letters

Worsley Marriott is situated just off the East Lancs Road in Worsley Manchester. I have DJ’d here on many occasions and it’s one I always look forward to working here. The venue is ideal for weddings up to 200 people and has plenty off opportunities on site and a short distance by car if you wanted some special photo’s taking on your special day. The room is clean and tidy with modern fixtures and fittings. At this reception I provided my DJ Service, Room Uplighting and Giant LED Love Letters which as you can see the room looked stunning.

My Recommendations for the Worsley Marriott are:

Uplighting (I believe this room needs this effect to uplift it)

White LED Twinkling Dance Floor or Black Twinkling Dancefloor

PhotoBooth or Mirror (The Mirrors are the new trend set to explode in 2015/16)

Monograms (Project your logo or Name/Initials onto a wall or dance floor)

Giant Love Letters with Heart (Mine are 15ft in length and nearly 6ft. Not the cheap flimsy ones)

One thing to bear in mind is the bar. When I do Weddings I usually find when the bar is not in the same room as the guests the party suffers. You get the blokes stood around the bar, smokers outside and an half empty reception room where your DJ will be trying their hardest to get the party started. It makes things much more difficult so seriously think about this before booking your venue. In terms of the Marriott I find this venue manages to pull it off having the bar in a separate room. Without blowing my own trumpet it has been when we have put in a few of our services to make the room look fab and a good quality professional DJ. The success of your night depends on your entertainment and Disco Dave for £200 ain’t going to cut the mustard. Invest in the success of your evening and you will get a night to remember.

Wedding DJ Lowry Theatre Manchester

Wedding DJ Lowry Theatre Manchester

On the 9th August 2014 I provided my services to Clare & Andy Ivers for their special wedding at the Compass Room in The Lowry Theatre. This room is great for a number of reasons.

1) Close to Manchester. Close to the Metro Link. Close to Hotels. Close to shops and restaurants if you are staying over night.

2) The Bar is in the same room as the main event. This will always help your event be more successful. It keeps your guests close to the dance floor.

3) Like number 2 your smokers will never be far away. A balcony surrounds the glass room. It is on the 4th floor so everyone stays where they need to be.

4) Panoramic Views of Manchester/Salford at night. You will see Media City, Imperial War Museaum and Old Trafford FC  lit up for perfect photo opportunities.

A key consideration is Audio Volume. If they have any shows on downstairs in the theatre then volume is restricted until after 10pm. Also your DJ needs to plug into The Lowrys own PA System and cannot use they’re personal PA. Ive done this room many times and it is never a problem.

I always find the staff helpful and friendly and the venue offers plenty of photo opportunities with the industry and bridges just outside.

This room would benefit from a Dry Ice 1st Dance which would give it the wow factor as well as my Giant LOVE Letters and some professional chair covers. When it is dressed correctly I find the room to look very impressive and I love how much natural light enters the room.

Here is what the Compass Room looks like at night

The Look

The Look

To get The Look at your Wedding requires you to choose the right people to represent you on your big day. In this picture  the Mood Lighting accentuates the background in Vibrant Purple. With over 30,000 colour combinations we can certainly get an almost identical match to whatever you need. We offer two options when booking moodlighting.

Option 1 – 1 Colour in a Static Mode. This will stay the same colour to match your theme all night. £260

Option 2 – 1 Colour in a Static Mode until the Disco starts. We then control the colours to change quickly, slowly with many possibilities. They can strobe, do sound 2 light, Black Out or use a set program. £290

What a difference uplighters can do to transform a room

Telling The Difference

Telling The Difference

Take a look at the following pictures…see if you can spot the difference?

 tesco_value_baked_beansheinz beans

Go on, look closely…Can you see it?

Ok, let me tell you.

Both of those baked beans come from Tesco’s, out of a can. They both look like baked beans, smell like baked beans, they are, quite simply, baked beans. So are they the same?

The beans on the left are Tesco Value Baked Beans costing 30p and the beans on the right are Heinz Baked Beans costing 68p.

Now can you tell the difference?

Probably not, but enough of the games, the difference is in the taste, they look the same, orange and beany but they taste so different. Having sampled both varieties I would easily choose the Heinz beans every time but for someone who just wants beans and doesn’t care what they taste like, as long as they look like baked beans then the 30p can will do just fine.

So what has this got to do with disco’s???

Substitute both of those pictures for pictures of a mobile disco. They both might look the same, speakers, lights, maybe a star cloth on the front to hide the wires, a DJ…it’s a disco. The problem is one costs £150.00 and the other £450.00. So how do you spot the difference? And more importantly, should it matter to you?

You see, the look might be the same but there might be loads of differences you can’t see. For example, one of those DJ’s will more than likely have professional insurance, pay tax on their earnings, buy music legally and keep their equipment (and backup equipment) properly maintained and tested for safety. He or She might also be a member of the various trade bodies that help and support professional DJ’s, they even might have another vehicle they use solely for their business. The other DJ may, or may not have and do all of the above. So how do you tell the difference? Do you just go off the price? No. We are conditioned from a very early age to understand that “you get what you pay for” – but it’s not always true. I’ve seen DJs out there charging professional rates and providing a fantastic level of service. I’ve also seen DJs out there charging the same rates for that “great 30p taste”.

You are entrusting the evening entertainment on one of the most important days of your life to someone you probably haven’t met before. It is importantly you find the right DJ, someone you can learn to trust who will deliver everything you ask them to on the day, without question or fuss.

You need to understand that whilst equipment is important, it’s not as important as you think. Look at the baked beans example above, 30p beans look exactly the same as 68p beans but that is where the similarities end. What’s important is what you can’t see. A DJ can have the best equipment in the world, he can buy “the look” very easily, and cheaply but the one thing he or she cannot buy is…

Experience is everything, if you want to entrust the biggest, most emotional day of your life to someone with very little or even NO experience in providing quality entertainment on your wedding day then that is shocking. I don’t believe for one minute that there is a Bride and Groom out there who would put so little “experience” value on any aspect of their big day, not just the disco.

Would you hire a photographer with no wedding experience to take pictures on your wedding day?

Would you hire a baker with no experience in making exceptional, unique wedding cakes for your wedding day?

Would you hire a stationer with very little experience in creating exquisite invitation cards for your wedding day?

Selling the invisible

The problem DJs have is that we are trying to sell the invisible. What we (i.e. Mobile DJs) are offering has no value at all until it’s been delivered, same as a photographer. He or She could show you hundreds of photo’s of past weddings and have the latest Nikon or Canon SLR, but if they don’t deliver on the day then all you’re left with is a load of naff photo’s.

Look beyond what you CAN see and investigate what you CAN’T SEE, there lies the hidden value

A Fantastic day with the sun cracking the flags. We were booked to provide music for the Wedding Ceremony-Breakfast and Reception. The B&G added onto their package the uplighters which enhances the colour of any room. We also provided a Saxophone Player which went down a treat on the lawn at the back conservatory. 18 hours we was there on the day with 12+ hours preparation time from the 1st booking until the big day. This includes client meeting and planning as the B&G live in Dubai.

Master of Ceremonies Training in Basingstoke Marbecca Mark Ferrell Rebecca Ferrell

May 2013 I attended the Bronze Marbecca Master of Ceremonies Official Training in Basingstoke Hilton Hotel. Hosted by the world famous Mark & Rebbeca Ferrell from California, USA. This training teaches you how to introduce the wedding party into the room, Introduce the toasts, The 1st Dance, Cutting the Cake, Last Dance, Father Daughter Dance and any other official ceremony. Not only does it teach you how to Introduce, it teaches you how to attach emotion and body language to every word you say. This makes what you say believable and from the heart. This Training cost me over £1200 for 2 days.
