Let me show you how a working men’s club can be transformed into a visually stunning wedding venue. At this Wedding we used Uplighting, White 16x16ft Star Lit Dance Floor, Dry Ice 1st Dance (Dancing In The Clouds) and a top notch DJ (Me… ha ha). But seriously the amount of compliments I got on the night from regulars who said it completely transformed the room. Not everyone has the budget to spend 5-10k on the venue and some choose to use the money for different things like an house deposit or a new baby on arrival. But what you can achieve for a lot less money is amazing with a bit of planning. For all the services I provided including discounts for multiple services they got all this for only £1127 saving them £77. Check out the pictures below to see why this was worth it…
Pro Mobile Conference 2014 was a brilliant meeting of the Mobile DJ Industries top talent. The Conference was over two days at The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Heythrop Park, Oxford. Over the 2 days we had 6 speakers deliver a wide range of seminars. The Key Note speaker was Randy Bartlett. Now Randy is one of the Top USA Wedding DJs commanding fees $0000s over the local average. He delivered a brilliant couple of seminars over the 2 days. Rob Brown helped teach us about networking and referalls. The highlight being the practical workshop on how to network by working the room. This was extremely worthwhile and it opens your eyes to new ways of doing things.
Day 2 Randy gave his second seminar and we also got some marketing hints and tips from the very talented Howard Wing. Howard is The Wedding Industry Awards 2014 Best Wedding Entertainer. He is from the North West and is at the very top of his game.
Overall the conference was excellent value for money.
The Monastery is one of the most beautiful venues I have ever had the privilege to deliver Wedding Entertainment. It’s grand, classy and the staff are fantastic.
The positives were:
-Marquee for cocktail hour
-Plenty of room for the DJ/Entertainment to fully set up
The considerations were:
-Location vs your bulk of guests (Do you need to hire a coach)
-Accoustically the Monastery is so big. The evening music will be loud enough but not overly so. Just bear this in mind. The ceilings are so tall it sucks the sound away from the dance floor. I have never found this to be detrimental to the success of the event though.
Days of Seminars, networking and workshops with some of the UK’s finest DJs. The keynote speaker was Jim Cerone from Indianna, USA. He is known as “The Perfect Host” and is in the top 5 Wedding DJs in the whole of the USA.
I have just got back from BPM 2012 which is the biggest DJ Convention in the world! Myself and two other DJ friends took the trip to Birmingham NEC where the 3 day Event was held. Tickets cost £10pp and car parking was £10 per car. We were like three 8 year olds in Toys R Us 2 weeks before Xmas.
After an initial scan around the hall the main focus was the Pioneer Stand and their recent announcement of a new midi controller (3rd October). We took a look at the DDJ SX controller and it looked like heaven. All 3 of us decided then and there that this is the new piece of kit we would be ordering as soon as it became available. We actuately pre-ordered our units on 9th October. Release date was 1st November 2012.
Next up I asked the guys to come to a presentation by another Professional DJ Brian Mole. Brian is also the Chairman of SEDA and a respected DJ in the South West of England. He was giving his take on what a Wedding DJ’s should and shouldn’t do and gave some tips and recommendations that he has experienced over the years. I found this to be a great session. Although a lot of the content was something I already do, their were a couple of nuggets of information I made note of and I would like to thank him for this advice.
It was a great day. One noticeable absentee was QSC who had no presence on the PA Arena? Strange as a lot of Mobile DJ’s are opting for their K Series of speakers or are on the fence considering upgrading to these speakers.
