David & Siobhan got married at the Novotel Worsley in June 2016. The ceremony was at the beautiful St Peters Church in Swinton. If ever you want a church to make you go wow then this is it. The vicar was a lovely man and provided a well structured service.
Early 2016 we celebrated Ashley & Joe’s Wedding at the beautiful Statham Lodge in Lymm. This venue really is a perfect wedding venue for a number of reasons… It is well a proportioned period venue that is well managed and maintained. It has beautiful gardens which are perfect on a summers day. Lush greenery and various props that are idea for beautiful wedding pictures. On this wedding I was booked to DJ and provide uplighting for the room. All night I was getting compliments of how well the room looked and even the venue staff were complimentary taking pictures for promotional material. Having done this venue a few times I always find it very professional and the staff attentive. Everything is to hand all day and contained within the room so guests all stay together. There is also hotel rooms you can hire if your guests want to stay over the night.
My recommendation for this room is:
Uplighting (Choose what colour to make the venue walls match your theme)
White LED Twinkling Dance Floor or Black Twinkling Dancefloor
Dry Ice 1st Dance (Dancing in the Clouds effect as seen on X Factor)
Drapery (This adds opulance to the room giving the room a lift)
PhotoBooth or Mirror (The Mirrors are the new trend set to explode in 2015/16)
Monograms (Project your logo or Name/Initials onto a wall or dance floor)
Giant Love Letters with Heart (Mine are 15ft in length and nearly 6ft. Not the cheap flimsy ones)
The entertainment and lighting will set the scene and get it right you and your guests will have a party to remember for many years to come.
Worsley Marriott is situated just off the East Lancs Road in Worsley Manchester. I have DJ’d here on many occasions and it’s one I always look forward to working here. The venue is ideal for weddings up to 200 people and has plenty off opportunities on site and a short distance by car if you wanted some special photo’s taking on your special day. The room is clean and tidy with modern fixtures and fittings. At this reception I provided my DJ Service, Room Uplighting and Giant LED Love Letters which as you can see the room looked stunning.
My Recommendations for the Worsley Marriott are:
Uplighting (I believe this room needs this effect to uplift it)
White LED Twinkling Dance Floor or Black Twinkling Dancefloor
PhotoBooth or Mirror (The Mirrors are the new trend set to explode in 2015/16)
Monograms (Project your logo or Name/Initials onto a wall or dance floor)
Giant Love Letters with Heart (Mine are 15ft in length and nearly 6ft. Not the cheap flimsy ones)
One thing to bear in mind is the bar. When I do Weddings I usually find when the bar is not in the same room as the guests the party suffers. You get the blokes stood around the bar, smokers outside and an half empty reception room where your DJ will be trying their hardest to get the party started. It makes things much more difficult so seriously think about this before booking your venue. In terms of the Marriott I find this venue manages to pull it off having the bar in a separate room. Without blowing my own trumpet it has been when we have put in a few of our services to make the room look fab and a good quality professional DJ. The success of your night depends on your entertainment and Disco Dave for £200 ain’t going to cut the mustard. Invest in the success of your evening and you will get a night to remember.
Colshaw Hall is a Luxury Wedding Venue that Jess & Rick got married at in Aug 2014. This venue is top end and certainly makes you feel like you have the full 300 acre private estate to yourself. This is a fairly new wedding venue which underwent a conversion from family home to top class wedding venue in the noughties. The standard of fit is top end and the staff where helpful and friendly. Getting married on site has some beautiful options. The gorgeous Japanese style garden features a miniature lake, complete with bridge for a romantic and intimate backdrop for a wedding portrait or an atmospheric place to relax during an event. Jess and Rick had a very young crowd attending their wedding and had asked me for a up-tempo Dance/RnB/Chart music feel. Usually this is a no no for a wedding as the guests are a big mix of ages. However, after our client meeting we came up with a plan of action on how to tackle the night. Working with a Sax player the night was a massive success and worked a treat, turning out to be one of my favourite nights I’ve done. Access for disabled guests is very good.
Recommendations – The room is a perfect size for most weddings.
Entertainment I would recommend is: Uplighting, LED Twinkle Dance Floor, Dry Ice 1st Dance, Monogram, Giant Love Letters
*** Think about the logistics!!! If you live in Manchester you need to realistically be putting on a coach for your guests to get to and from the venue. This can take away a lot of stress for your guests if they live a fair distance. You want them to have a drink and have fun. By doing this they won’t need a designated driver and will stay the full night. Also some guests may struggle with the cost of hotels and taxi fares if the venue is a distance. A coach takes all them worries away
Dance In The Clouds for your first dance and allow your photographer to really get some awesome pictures to treasure forever. Dry Ice is relatively new in terms of the wedding market. Not many DJs/companies do it. I decided to offer the effect it to differentiate myself from the competition and overnight night B+Gs and other vendors/venues are floored by how nice it makes the room look.
This was at the Black Swan in Hollins Green. They only accept Friday Weddings now as it is a busy venue in it’s own right. It has also just had a £1million refit with hotel added onto it. On Saturday 16th I provided an all day Wedding Day package. This involved:
1) I provided the Ceremony Music in the Church (Before/during/after)
2) Next I was already set up in the venue to provide Master of Ceremony duties.
3) Background Music was played whilst Dinner was served
4) Background music was played for the Drinks Reception
5) Disco was provided till 1am
My clients also booked…..
6) Uplighters to create coloured washes of light onto the room walls
8) Dry Ice (Dancing In The Clouds)
9) Candelabra Hire
To book any of these services please contact me for a chat or to book a meeting
On the 9th August 2014 I provided my services to Clare & Andy Ivers for their special wedding at the Compass Room in The Lowry Theatre. This room is great for a number of reasons.
1) Close to Manchester. Close to the Metro Link. Close to Hotels. Close to shops and restaurants if you are staying over night.
2) The Bar is in the same room as the main event. This will always help your event be more successful. It keeps your guests close to the dance floor.
3) Like number 2 your smokers will never be far away. A balcony surrounds the glass room. It is on the 4th floor so everyone stays where they need to be.
4) Panoramic Views of Manchester/Salford at night. You will see Media City, Imperial War Museaum and Old Trafford FC lit up for perfect photo opportunities.
A key consideration is Audio Volume. If they have any shows on downstairs in the theatre then volume is restricted until after 10pm. Also your DJ needs to plug into The Lowrys own PA System and cannot use they’re personal PA. Ive done this room many times and it is never a problem.
I always find the staff helpful and friendly and the venue offers plenty of photo opportunities with the industry and bridges just outside.
This room would benefit from a Dry Ice 1st Dance which would give it the wow factor as well as my Giant LOVE Letters and some professional chair covers. When it is dressed correctly I find the room to look very impressive and I love how much natural light enters the room.
Saturday 7th June 2014 at the Rhinewood Country Club I did Kelly & James’ Wedding Reception. It was an absolute fantastic night with some great family and friends. They will be sunning it up now in the very hot Tenerife. Thank you for booking me guys! This picture was at the end of a very hot and sweaty night on my iPhone Camera so the picture is a little pixelated.
Update…. Sadly the venue has now closed and is being demolished to make way for housing
Pro Mobile Conference 2014 was a brilliant meeting of the Mobile DJ Industries top talent. The Conference was over two days at The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Heythrop Park, Oxford. Over the 2 days we had 6 speakers deliver a wide range of seminars. The Key Note speaker was Randy Bartlett. Now Randy is one of the Top USA Wedding DJs commanding fees $0000s over the local average. He delivered a brilliant couple of seminars over the 2 days. Rob Brown helped teach us about networking and referalls. The highlight being the practical workshop on how to network by working the room. This was extremely worthwhile and it opens your eyes to new ways of doing things.
Day 2 Randy gave his second seminar and we also got some marketing hints and tips from the very talented Howard Wing. Howard is The Wedding Industry Awards 2014 Best Wedding Entertainer. He is from the North West and is at the very top of his game.
Overall the conference was excellent value for money.
The Monastery is one of the most beautiful venues I have ever had the privilege to deliver Wedding Entertainment. It’s grand, classy and the staff are fantastic.
The positives were:
-Beautiful Venue
-Outside Garden
-Marquee for cocktail hour
-Plenty of room for the DJ/Entertainment to fully set up
The considerations were:
-Location vs your bulk of guests (Do you need to hire a coach)
-Accoustically the Monastery is so big. The evening music will be loud enough but not overly so. Just bear this in mind. The ceilings are so tall it sucks the sound away from the dance floor. I have never found this to be detrimental to the success of the event though.
Have you considered The Lowry Theatre to host your Wedding Breakfast/Reception? The beautiful Compass Room is an ideal venue. It has a few big ticks that all Party’s should have. The bar is in the same room as the dance floor and there is a large balcony which is great for any smokers in the party. It helps keep all your guests together and centres the party around the entertainment. Trust me there is nothing worse than a bar in a different room and all the blokes are propping it up. Watch the day turn to night with panoramic views of Media City illuminated at night. It’s a perfect photo opportunity. I have DJ’d many Weddings here. If you would like a chat then please get in touch.
